Growing Vegetables 101

Celebrate the first day of Spring by learning some new skills for a successful veggie garden. This class will cover the basics of gardening with topics such as soil types, pesky bugs, mulching, selecting plants, and many more.

When she isn’t playing with plants at Farmer’s Daughter Nursery, Cami enjoys finding something new to learn every day. She holds a master's degree in agriculture economics from the University of Arkansas. Cami is a firm believer that money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy plants, and that’s pretty much the same!

Essential Oils 101

Implement essential oils into your life and use them to improve your physical and mental health and well-being. Make a customizable first aid kit of essential oils for health and healing in this fun introductory class. You may wish to bring a notebook & pen or pencil.

Jamon is a Certified Advanced Master Herbalist with over 15 years of experience as a medicine maker. He lives in Missouri and first learned about plant medicine for survival camping. Now he focuses on making herbal medications and sharing his knowledge with community groups.

Local Frogs and Toads and Their Calls

Do you ever wonder which frogs you are hearing at your pond or on the river? Find out in this fun, interactive program with frog listening expert Linda Glass. Learn to identify local frogs and toads by sight – and by sound!

Linda is a retired high school science teacher and an avid naturalist. She spent several years working with FrogWatch USA as a volunteer citizen scientist identifying frogs by their calls.

Spiders of Arkansas

Instructor: Heather Pitman
Living in Arkansas, you will come across many spiders, both indoors and out. Whether you love them or fear them, it is a good idea to be able to tell the difference between venomous and nonvenomous species. Spiders are worth learning about because they are beneficial and play an essential role in a healthy ecosystem.

Heather is an educator with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and is the Facility Manager at Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center in Yellville. She previously came to ag娱乐官网 to speak about owls and to let us dissect owl pellets.

Spring Foraging

Learn to identify the seasonal plants in our area that can be safely used as medicine. In this hands-on class, you will be spending time outdoors identifying useful plants and then learning how to use the correct parts of the plants for healing. Please dress for walking & being outdoors with appropriate shoes. Bring a notebook & pencil, smartphone & bug spray, if desired.

Wild Turkeys

Once almost wiped out due to habitat loss and over-hunting, the wild turkey that is native to Arkansas has made a remarkable comeback due to conservation efforts. Join us for an exciting informational program on the state’s largest game bird and learn how to make your own turkey calls.

Matt has been an educator with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for the last 8 years. He works at the Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center in Yellville, Arkansas. He often brings his amazing snakes to ag娱乐官网 for his popular Snakes of Arkansas program.
